Mediterranean Sol Gourmet has it
origins in the province of Navarra, known by the Spanish as the "Garden
District" of Spain. Boasting a unique combination of mineral rich soil and
special climatic conditions, Navarra is famous throughout Spain for its optimum
harvests, quality produce, and speciality cheeses. Characterized by a large
variety of landscapes, climates and regional foods, its diverse geography is
influenced by the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
The north of Navarra is dominated by the snow-covered Pyrenean Mountains. The
climate is characteristically cold in the winter and cool in the summer. This
area of Navarra produces some the best cheese in Spain, principally Roncal and
Idiazabal.

Ebro River
The south of Navarra called La Ribera
is home to the Ebro River, the longest river in Spain. There, many of the
communities are dedicated to agriculture and farming. Without a doubt, it is
this zone that produces Spain's best piquillo peppers, white asparagus, and
artichokes. Arbequina olives also thrive in the specialized landscape. Many of
Navarra´s products are identified with the prestigious Denomination of
Origin seal. Tudela is the capital La Ribera and is a hub of agricultural
activity. So famous is this region for its fruits and vegetables, it is not
unlikely to find names of vegetable entrees offered in restaurants throughout
Spain bearing the name, "artichokes from Tudela."
